Weekend Music Roundup

The music scene in this city is kind of ridiculous. There’s literally someone that I’d like to see playing every night of the week. Quick shout-outs are in order: Oh My Rockness is great for when you don’t have anything planned and want to see what’s on tap, and tourfilter lets you type in your favorite bands and get notified when they’re coming to your city.

Gliss – Devotion Implosion. Crunchy and fuzzy and all tied up in the throat, but poppy enough that I’ll probably be over them soon (but not before checking them out this Wednesday at Union Hall).

Atlas Sound – Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel. I know this is a little older, but I’m always a little slow to follow along into side projects of bands I really like. I should have my fill of this universe by now, but we’ll see how Lotus Plaza holds up.

Starfucker. Super catchy happy music, nevermind the lyrics. I saw them at Mercury Lounge a little over a week ago, and their show was just a ton of fun. I do skip a few tracks on this one, though, gotta admit. Their new one, Jupiter, comes out Tuesday.

Teengirl Fantasy. I was really surprised to read that the creation of this music involved drugs.
