@cyberphyber, to me that sounds like the moral equivalent of keeping an @Reply folder, but you're right, with the gmail ui that's a really quick way to handle the situation until such a time as they deem to cater to the lazy.

Don't forget to <a href="http://mail.google.com/support/bin/static.py?page=suggestions.cs" rel="nofollow">make the feature request</a>. Yes We Can.

I totally agree, this is a big fat stinking problem with gmail. What I do is when I get a message I need to reply to but don't have time, I click in the reply box and immediately save it as a draft, so "draft" shows up next to all the messages I haven't replied to. this works since it doesn't require any discipline (I have none either).

That's how a good, organized, responsible person should handle the situation. The problem with that for me is that since it requires doing something in a semi-disciplined way, I'm not going to be able to stick with it. I really need tools that I can use to re-organize on-the-fly after I've inevitably fallen into a state of horrible disorganization.

Here's how I approach that problem. I have a folder called "@Reply" where I place anything that needs action. I also use a folder called "@ToRead" which just includes stuff I need to look over, but not necessarily act on. I use Apple Mail, rather than the Gmail client - I'm still a fan of applications over web apps.
