Alright, new rank-o-matic, er, goodness. I’m beginning to understand why other algorithms wait a while before releasing their rankings. My system is biased heavily towards wins-and-losses and strength-of-schedule, but it discovers strength-of-schedule in the process of generating its output. So, for instance, it doesn’t know that USC (#14) absolutely embarrassed a supposedly elite Ohio State (#73) team last night, it only knows that Ohio State just has wins against a D-II school and a winless Ohio (#116). Since Ohio State has yet to prove itself as anything special, USC doesn’t get much credit right now, but as Ohio State presumably racks up some substantive victories, USC will be retroactively rewarded.

My school, Oklahoma (#20), is suffering from a similar slight. Sure, they look amazing on the field, but their D-I opponents haven’t yet notched a single D-I win. A big win against currently undefeated TCU (#12) in two weeks should move them into the top 10.
